Can someone send me a photo of the Hall GTC emblem that was on the door mine are gone and I know the only way I am going to get anything close is to get ones made. If I can get a few dimensions like the length and height of the characters it would make it easier to draw out.

Thanks
Stan

I can take some hi res pictures of them. I think they're just glued on. One of my door ones has a couple screws in it.

I can probably get a pencil rubbing and send it to you if that will help.

I thought it might be neat to see about getting some big vinyl stickers of the Logo printed up.

Image

well less the added text

Then maybe some vinyl pin striping or some sort of simple design to dress up the look of the van.

but that might be an option for you.. I want to take mine off and get them cleaned up when I have a bit more time.

It wouldn't be that hard for a sign shop to make up vinyl stickers like that. I've been looking for a hard spare tire cover for mine and I'd put that on it.

Here's something else I've been playing with. Just the first prototype. Need to tweak the design a bit.

All: if one of us has one of these that isn't attached to something, what about having it duplicated in aluminum? I think I know of a place that could do it down in LA for not a whole lot. Maybe even chrome plated bronze? I believe that they are all screwed in from behind: not so easy to remove and put back in place in one piece. Especially the one on the rear end! I'm wondering how I'm going to repaint because of this.

I have my front door panels off and can look and see if there is anything sticking in from the emblem. I thought they were just glued on. One of my door ones has a screw in it from the outside.

Usually automotive emblems have short posts that go through the body skin, which are retained by push-on clips. This makes them just about impossible to remove from the outside without breaking something or other. I had the passenger side door off a couple months ago to change out the glass felts and seals, but never thought to look at where the emblems come through.

I'm curious about the bathroom door in Eric's rig. Is it original, or is there someplace where those things are still being made???

My '71 Charger has glued on emblems. No pins at all. I haven't gotten a chance to go look at mine. I moved it down the street so I could work on my minivan.

You can get accordian doors at Camping World. I don't think they have the woven wood ones like Eric has but I did look at some offwhite ones which I thought would go well with the bedroom door.

The door emblems do have pins and they are pushed into barrel retainers so you should be able to push them out from the inside or pry off the emblem from the outside. Mine appear to be glued as well and the right one doesn't have the pins but there are holes so they probably broke off. It was easy to see them because they are right across from the speaker holes on the inside.

I would reinstall them using 3M embem tape. You put it over the back of the emblem and then cut it out and then peel off the backing and stick. That stuff sticks like crazy so you want to make sure you get it where you want it the first time.

What speaker holes? ;-)

I've seen the vinyl ones, but they come overly long for the door opening. How the heck could they be shortened??

Mine has speakers at the front part of the door panel high up.

Ah ha. Mine has two overhead and two facing aft on either side of the AC access panel, but none in the door.

Old post, but I thought I'd respond, it's super cheap to duplicate these with a 3-D printer now. I would print in silver plastic, paint with metallic finish and coat with a sealant. Or you can pay more and go to a metal worker who can make a mold and pour some new ones for you.

I have about 5 or 6 of them that I found in the walls/floor/workings. [I dunno...GHOSTS!] I plan to take one for each direction and have a friend of mine make molds and pour me some replacements and backups for when I finally redo the exterior paint.

You found extra emblems? I'm really curious about your rig and the differences from others. Could you send me a picture of the tags that are located inside the driver's door jamb that show the build date and VIN? You can e-mail me directly at nick@nicksgarage.com. You can also send me larger photos of your rig and the text you'd like on your gallery page.

Thanks, Nick
