Hi,

My name is Stan and I live in Longmont, Co and we have a 1973 Hall. We bought it about 7 or 8 years ago when we were redoing our house and needed a place to live in and lived in it for 6 months. It is a dual wheel rear end with a 360 V8 and over the years we have travelled as far as Northern California, we needed to find an IKEA but that is another story. Everything still works and I have put new flooring in and tile in the bathroom, the furnace has been replaced along with the water heater (look on the marine hardware sites they have electric units with connections for supplementary radiator heat). The unit has about 78,000 miles on it and has needed some work. I have replaced the cab flooor and need to put carpet back in the front yet and we still use the original seats that fold in to a bed with the table. The biggest project was the front end, coming back from a trip, to the mountians of all places, the steering got really bad and wobbled. The steering box bracket had broken off the frame rails and was completely loose. It took about two months of work to mock up a new bracket and I had to spot weld the pieces in place and then took the whole unit out and had it weled together and then bolted it back between the frame members. Also while I was in there we completely redid the front end with top and bottom ball joints (the top ones screw in to the A-Arm) and all new bushings. I have taken out a couple of the windows and replaced the wood framing as it was rotted out and would like to know if somone has a source for the brush strips that the windows are in. Also does anyone know where I can get the track for the curtians, I have used the plastic track biut would like to find something in aluminium instead. Last thing is paint and if anyone has any suggestions on what to use I would appreciate it.

Stan,

Welcome aboard! We're a small group so far since they didn't make very many of these rigs.

Here are a couple quick replies to your questions.

You can get the aluminum curtain track here - http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/pro ... ts-701.htm. They also have the tabs that you sew onto the curtains.

See the window discussion under the techincal forum for information on the weatherstripping. http://hallgtc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19. There are sources for the fuzzy track and the sweep strips listed there.

Matt Tritt just did his windows and he'll be posting some information and pictures on the project.

Send me some pictures of your GTC and I'll create a page for you on the site.

There just aren't that many of them running around, glad you're keeping this one alive.

Welcome to the group.

Nick.
