i recently bought a 73 GTC with 22000 miles on it. It was used as an onsite security vehicle and was pretty trashed on the inside. Luckily I paid next to nothing for it and drove it from Redding CA to Lake Tahoe. I am now in the process of rebuilding just about everything. My plan is to live in it next winter while making snow in the Sierras. So far, I have replaced the plywood in the dinette area and bedroom, covering it with a floating floor. Got all the lights working and am currently repairing the copper water lines. The generator has 850 hours on it and I will be replacing that with a Honda 4000. I am looking for the original dinette if anyone has one available. I will post picture throughout my journey ;)

Welcome aboard Pierre. Sounds like quite the project. Does it have the original gold Generac generator? If you were closer I'd be interested in it for parts. Don't know anyone with a dinette table they want to sell but we could certainly help with pictures on one of you want to build one.

By plywood, do you mean the flooring? One thing to take a close look at would be the seals and caulking in and around the windows, especially if it's been living in a dry environment like Redding. I replaced all the felt "U" channel, the caulking that's behind all the aluminum window frames, the screens and a lot of the wood spacers that are inside the walls to give rigidity where needed. I think there might be some photos on the site showing some of it, but if not, I can send them.

Another potential problem area in mine was the water tank, which I was able to replace with something new (and much better). It had been leaking in spots through the bottom, of all things. Too bad about the copper plumbing! It's theoreticaly possible to remove the cabinetry and, if you do have to, be sure and check the furnace blower motor and fan for proper alignment while you have access. The one in mine made a "ting - ting - ting" because the fan had moved slightly too close to the shroud. An easy fix - once it's out.

Things have really come together for my Hall. Life changes and I am considering selling the old girl. I would like to see it go to someone who knows these magnificent beasts. I would drive this beast anywhere. It only has 23000 miles on it. Make me a solid offer and come get it in the Tahoe area. This is a work in progress RV.

If you send me pictures and full information about the GTC, I'll set up a gallery page that you can then use for your ads.

Send as many pictures as you can. Also, be sure to cover the state of the systems such as the A/C, generator, fridge, electric step and such. Also include contact information.

Nick.
