Does anybody know which years the GTC had 50 gallon fuel tanks? If it's a dual tank, how does that work? I'm planning on purchasing a GTC this weekend out of state, the owner thought it had a 25 gallon tank, so I'm guessing the dual tanks, but he didn't mention that. I want to make sure if it has dual tanks, I know how to fill both and how to switch from one to the other.

Thanks,

Rocky

Rocky,

They only made the GTC one year (officially). Standard were dual gas tanks. If you got the optional 50 gallon tank it is just one big tank in the rear. There are two filler doors on the driver side of the coach. If you have the dual tanks there will be a filler pipe in each. If the single tank, it just has a filler in the rear one and the front one is empty.

The 50 gallon tank is a custom made unit and you can see some pictures of it here - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46#p368

In that same thread you can see the dual style.

Now there have been a couple 1980s coaches show up that have the Hall GTC body but have yet to find out who made them. They have the later style Dodge cab and other detail differences.

Is the one you're looking at the one in Arizona with transmission issues?

Hi Nick,

Yep, I'll be flying down this weekend to Tucson to pick it up. Got the transmission rebuilt so that we could drive it back up to Washington. My wife and I are really excited, we've been trying to find one for a couple of years now. Russ actually called the day I was going to try to get the one in Grass Valley, lost contact and he contacted me through this site this month. Thanks for running the site, would have never found out about the GTC or gotten hold of one without it. We'll post pics once it's back in WA.

Cool deal. They sent me some pictures of it, looks like it was pretty clean.

You should have a selector switch/lever on the floor of the cab. I bet it would be a good idea to install filters on the outlet of both tanks if they aren't there already. Are you coming up 101 through San Luis Obispo county?

I couldn't get as much time off work as I had hoped, so we ended up going towards Bakersfield and got on I5 back to WA. Ended up being a 50 gallon tank. It was my first time driving an RV and I was surprised how easy and comfortable the GTC is to drive, especially given it's age.
