The Hall GTC uses a Bargman L-300 lock and handle assembly for the coach door. This assembly has been used in many coaches from the early 1970s and up through the 1990s. When I got my '79 Brougham camper a few years back it had one and the lock cylinder was worn out so you could pretty much stick anything in there and unlock the door. I was able to buy a new lock cylinder for around 10 dollars at a local RV parts place. The one in my GTC works fine so I didn't think about replacing it.
The other day I was talking to someone who is working on a Revcon with the same lockset and he mentioned that he didn't have a key. I stopped by my local RV place and they still had a couple of these lock cylinders but they have jacked the price up to $39.95! I checked another place and they said they haven't had them in a while and that they couldn't get them anymore. I checked the Vintage Trailer Supply web site and they have them for $27.99.
I did some searching online and found prices all over the place. I did find a good deal on them at one place called PerformancePats4Less (
http://www.performanceparts4less.com/gd ... id=4838473). They show them for $5.99 with free shipping. The catch being that the shipping might be free but they have a $13.99 handling fee. I don't know why places do that but they might as well call that shipping.
Anyway, It's still the best price total I could find. If there was enough interest, we could do a group buy and save on the shipping. I know I could put them in the mail for a lot less than $13.99. Reply to this post if you're interested.
I've picked up a couple of these locksets from the junkyard. I need to fix the one in my coach so that it locks easier. The springs get weak in them and they need to be lubricated well to work properly.
