installed new stereo.. had to customize quite a bit to get a new one in there ..and the wiring way outdated:) added to speakers right above your head in the cab and rewired the ones in the back,,,i still need to remove the eight track radio and prolly put a cb overhead...also added a rearview camera ...and attached nice lil monitor over the rear view mirror...it works outstanding!

Cool. I bought the same camera but I'm going to try and mount it in the back window.

I had a big CB radio hanging from the ceiling in the cab. They cut a bunch of big holes in it and it was hanging down a lot. I'm going to have to put a piece of material on there to cover the holes and mount a dome light.

they charged me only 50$ to install the camera fer rear mount..would have been a lil more to install it higher..xtra wire...but it would be better up high in case there is a big toolbox or something on rear bumper

Where did they run the cable for the camera? I have one that looks the same still in the box because the screen seems too heavy for the mirror to support without falling all the time. Maybe mine's a bigger version? How did they route from mirror, through the overhead?

they basically said there was only one place they could do it...driver side pillar..then over to the mirror ...so it runs out and underneath..they did cover all wiring nicely with some heavy duty material...(hard cover)

I was going to install mine inside the camper in the rear window and run the wires behind the shower around the left side where the other wiring goes and then under the carpet to the dog house. I was just going to set the monitor on the doghouse when needed.

They do have some monitors that come in a rear view mirror that clips over the original one.

Here's an example - http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00COZNK1K

Maybe some Velcro on the back would help.

Could you maybe take a shot of that? Does your monitor also still act as a mirror, or only as a monitor?

They usually work like a mirror until the monitor is turned on and then you see the screen in a small rectangle behind the glass. Some new cars do it that way if they don't have a usable screen in the dash.

Do you have a Fresnel lens in your back window that you use your rear view mirror for? I only used my rear view mirror for watching the cabinet doors fling open from not having good latches.

I use the mirror by swiveling it up as high to the right as it will go. Works pretty well, but doesn't allow the passenger visor to be used - without moving the mirror. I don't have the swinging door thing so much after installing new release latches - the ones without the whole shebang. I also have magnets. I thought about using good marine grade latches, but then you still have the huge holes. Brother.
