Has anyone had the occaision to remove the large fiberglass cover at the back over the holding tanks? I need to mount a level gauge sender on both tanks and I'd like to know what the access is like before I get down and dirty.

I thought you had that off before. Takes pictures when you do.

OK then, I'll be the Guinea Pig. With a camera. I have to say that I'm not exactly looking forward to this operation on mine because of the resident black widows. Once they move in it's almost impossible persuade them to leave.

Get spider spray. It's different than regular bug spray.

I've got some. Never seen so many BW's in my life as this Spring!

I've had way more spiders in general the past 12 months. Even the brown widows are more common. I got bit by a spider earlier in the year and it wasn't any fun. I used to leave most of them alone but the spider spray comes out more often now.

Oh, and a note on the spider spray, it knocks black widows out and eventually kills them but they can still bite you while they're writhing in pain.

Well, I managed to get in there and lo and behold, no (living) spiders! First off, I highly recommend that everyone with a Hall remove that cover and inspect your grey water tank for problems. Mine has a hairline crack running about 4" along the middle of the reenforcing rib that shows signs of having leaked. The tank, while being really well installed and good looking, has a thin wall section - maybe a bit too thin. Not wanting to get into something serious like renting a plastic welder because the material's so thin, I used "Plumbers Goo". It went on really well but I won't know if it worked until I use it this weekend. "Goo" is good for fixing unfixable leaks on pressure lines so it should be good in this app. I'm glad I made the effort to get in there to attach the "See Level" sender, since I now see what has to happen if you need to drop that huge tank. I also refastened the front edge of the rear cover, which had been hanging down like a big air scoop ever since I got the thing. This involved drilling three 1/4" holes through 2 layers of GRP and 2 sections of steel of about 9/16" total, tapping them and tightening everything up with stainless bolts. All of the original mild steel fasteners had long since gone South and I always use SS whenever possible. It is still not fun drilling steel overhead while lying on one's back in the dirt and foxtails. Even so, it was reassuring to see just how well put together these vehicles are. MUCH better than most!
